Rittenhouse Columns Throw Blanket
Rittenhouse Columns Throw Blanket
These generously sized throw blankets are woven using a soft lamb’s wool. The fibers were spun in Maine and woven in my studio in Connecticut. They have a beautiful weight and drape, perfect for snuggling up on a couch or as an extra layer on a bed. The design is an original of mine using a technique called deflected doubleweave. Each blanket features large vertical stripes of deep aubergine, green khaki, and mixed blocks of grey and very deep blue with fleckles of khaki. The blue/grey version was woven entirely using the deep blue and grey in the weft (horizontal) yarn. Dragonfly was woven with khaki and aubergine in the weft, and Laural was woven mostly with blue and grey, with four squares of bright, rich pink. Each end of the blanket has been hemstitched on the loom, creating a svelte edge with short fringe.
Fibers: Lamb’s wool
Dimensions: Each measures approximately 48”w x 77” long, plus 1.5” of fringe on each side.
Care: Handwash and air dry. Just like you would wash a woolen sweater.
